Words are hurtful. No matter who they come from, they can be painful to hear. But somehow, when we tell them to ourselves, they aren’t as painful as they are believable. We don’t often treat ourselves the way we would treat other people. If we treated our friends the same way we treat ourselves, we would not have friends. Why don’t we treat ourselves as if we were our own friend? If you think about it, we are own own best friend. We have been there for ourselves through everything and we know what makes us feel better. But if we don’t try and support ourselves in the bad times like we would a friend, we aren’t treating ourselves right. Take a break tonight and think of ways to treat yourself more like a friend.
