“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
Many of you may recognize the first sentence of this verse. It is said every week at mass during the consecration. After hearing it week after week for many years, we can begin to tune it out. But the message of this verse should be remembered daily. God can give us more than any earthly possession ever will. He will provide for us as we need Him to. We should not turn to the things of this world to satisfy us; we should turn to God. We should also not be afraid and become worried because we should know that God will watch over us and He will take care of everything. As I start to get back into the school mode this week, I will remember this verse and call it to mind when things begin to get rough. Take a break today and write down this verse and put it somewhere that you can read it as a daily reminder that God will provide for us.
