“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
This is one of my favorite Gospel readings, and it happens to be the Gospel for today. Anyone that believes in Jesus will have eternal life. How comforting is that? Knowing that we just have to believe in Jesus and his teachings and follow his example, we will live forever in heaven. That is one of my favorite things about being Catholic. God promises us eternal life through His son. I’m interested to see how the priest at Mass tonight will reflect on this Gospel because every priest has a different view on even the most basic of our beliefs. God loved the world so much that He sent His only son for us. The only way we could repay Him is by loving the way He loves us. When we love others in that way, we are doing what Jesus told us to do, and we will be one step closer to heaven. Take a break today and think about the great love God and Jesus have for you and think about how you will do what they command to get you to heaven.
